AI Is Supercharging Property Fraud in the UK

UK fraud hit a record 444,000 cases in 2025. Property fraud is accelerating because AI has collapsed the cost of every step: deepfakes fool video verification calls, voice cloning impersonates property owners, and AI document forgery now accounts for 57% of all document fraud. HM Land Registry blocked £59 million in fraudulent applications in 2024-25. Payment diversion fraud cost victims an average of £82,000 per case. Traditional verification methods cannot keep pace with AI-generated identities. Biometric checks with liveness detection are now the minimum threshold.
