Large language models are not simply “inspired” by human writing. They are built from massive amounts of human intellectual labor, including articles, books, code, journalism, legal texts, forums, and technical documents. The real plagiarism problem is not only copied sentences, but structural appropriation: AI absorbs human-made ideas, styles, arguments, and patterns, recombines them, and produces outputs that appear original while hiding their sources. The solution is not basic AI disclosure, but generative provenance, systems that show what sources, domains, and human labor made AI-generated text possible.
