Ethereum’s Post-EIP-4844 Era: More Forks, Slower Syncs, Big Questions

This report analyzes Ethereum’s consensus security metrics and rollup data after EIP-4844 went live. Findings show a noticeable increase in fork rates and a shift toward slower synchronization times, though only part of the slowdown is linked directly to EIP-4844. While CSP and DA times remained largely unaffected, receive time significantly impacted sync performance. Logistic regression suggests a proportional link between longer sync times and higher fork probability. The rollup data section classifies L2 transaction functions and identifies whether they rely on Ethereum as a data availability layer.
