Canonical Isomorphisms In More Advanced Mathematics

The article examines why many “canonical” isomorphisms in advanced mathematics—especially in the Langlands program, class field theory, and homological algebra—are not uniquely determined. Instead, they rely on human choices, sign conventions, and non-formalizable decisions, revealing a deeper ambiguity that challenges the idea of canonical structure in modern mathematics.
