Can Privacy Issues Be Resolved with Secure Source Coding?

In this study, a remote source model is introduced, in which terminals view noisy measurements of a common source, extending secure source coding. The research takes into consideration both privacy leakage with respect to the distant source and secrecy leakage to eavesdroppers. Exact rate regions for lossy and lossless secure source coding are characterized by the authors through the use of a private key, rate-limited communication, and side information. The methodology also determines the lossy rate region for measurement channels that are noisy and have Gaussian sources. In distributed data reconstruction systems, these findings contribute to a better understanding of how to manage privacy, confidentiality, distortion, and communication limitations.
