AI Learns to Predict Shock Waves

This article explores how neural networks can be combined with domain decomposition methods to solve complex nonlinear systems in fluid dynamics. Experiments on shallow water equations and Euler’s equations demonstrate that even simple neural architectures can approximate shock waves and discontinuities with surprising accuracy.
