Reddit Forum: Hackers Are Causing Vandalism Via Pro-Trump Messages

Reddit forum is currently facing a massive hack that has hit lately after tens of the Reddit channels have been hacked and vandalized. This hack has been done to show messages in support of Donald Trump’s re-election campaign. The hacks are still going on. Reddit’s security team is currently aware of the issue, and they are already working on the restoration process of the defaced channels.

A partial list of the impacted channels or the subreddits of the Reddit forum is made available. All of these channels include various tv shows, NFL, Disneyland, Pirate Bay, Disney’s Avengers, many city channels and a lot. The Reddit forum security team has said that the hack took place after the hackers have taken over the subreddit moderator accounts. Many of the moderators have come forward for admitting that their accounts have been hacked and they did not use the two-factor authentication. The channel owners who are having problems are asked to report their issues in the Reddit ModSupoort Thread.

A Twitter account has taken the credit for this hack. Nevertheless, the account’s owner did not respond to a request for comment, and that is why its claims cannot be verified. The account is suspended as of now.

The Reddit forum hack also follows Reddit banned r/The_Donald, which is a channel for Donald Trump supporters, in late June. Reddit stated that it took the decision to ban the channel accused of breaking its community rules after reports of bullying, harassment, and threats of violence. Although, this stunt is reminiscent of a similar one that occurred at the end of June and the start of July when over 1,800 Roblox accounts were hacked and slandered with the same pro-Trump re-election message.
