A renowned Taiwanese piracy content website named 8maple.ru has been seized off lately that attracted over 35 million users per month (Stats by SimilarWeb). The website has been identified as the 32nd most visited website in Taiwan. The operators Chen Su (33 years old) and Zhuang Su (32 years old) had been operating this piracy site under an advertising company and since its inception had earned over 33+ million dollars. After the arrest liquid cash, properties and equipment were seized.

It all required unethical minds, greed for money and proper skill to come out with such a result. The Masterminds behind the whole thing were two skilled people from the computer science background in their early 30s and graduated from the Northern National Taiwanese University – Chen Su and Zhuang Su. They started computer science and Engineering together. Back in the year 2014, they started this infamous Taiwanese piracy content website as a fake advertising company initially and named it 8maple.ru.
How The Arrest and Seizure Were Given Shape
An investigation was carried out by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, Japanese Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA), the Asia-Pacific Division of the Motion Picture Association (MPA-APC) and the local TV network named Sanli TV.
The investigation helped the officials to trace the operators. The Criminal Investigation Bureau in a joint venture with the Telecommunications Investigation Corps has arrested Chen and Zhuang.
Soon following the arrest that has recently been made public, the cops have seized a good number of electronic items consisting of 25 computers, mobile phones and data in cloud storage in Canada and France (OVH). The Taiwanese privacy content website‘s main .ru domain was amongst the several other seized domains that included 8maple.com and eyny.tv.
The infamous website seems to be quite a lot profitable to both the accused. During a press meet, authorities have unveiled that Chen and Zhuang acquired luxury mansions that had cost around US$16,000,000 (NT$532,000) each, which they both paid in cash. Both the men were accused and arrested for offenses related to copyright infringement while Taiwan’s Telecommunications Investigation Corps estimated that the Taiwanese piracy content website 8maple.ru caused damages of around US$33.2 million (NT$1 billion). Both the accused are now transferred to the investigation officer of the Taoyuan District Procuratorate.
